Valldemossa, a monastery for Chopin

Valldemossa is a beautiful town located west of Mallorca on the Sierra de Tramontana. Holds a former Carthusian monastery founded by monks in 1399. As a result of the Confiscation Act of Mendizabal in 1835, passed into private hands. The monastery hosted the pianist Frederic Chopin and writer George Sand in the winter of 1838-1839, after which came the writer’s novel “A Winter in Majorque”, where this reflected their uneasiness with the Islanders.

Each summer in the month of August is a musical festival dedicated to Chopin, with international guests (www.festivalchopin.com).

Visit the village, the monastery and its surroundings is more than desirable.
Beautiful villas, exclusive residences and luxury properties are priced to high in this area for its architectural quality, unique location and wonderful setting. Near Valldemossa, there are other populations at high interest Deia and Soller.
